31 Days to Become a Better Writer – Day 8

Day 8

Today’s challenge:

Write an excerpt in verse and not prose. You can write on any topic you want. Don’t shrug off this assignment with the excuse, “I’m not a poet.” I know, you’re a writer, but writers write poetry too. Give it a try and don’t over think this. There is no “wrong” poem.

———–

A daft old man who stole a box and ran away

A daft old man who stole a box and ran away,

He shall return to you someday.

The Oncoming Storm, the Destroyer of Worlds,

Into our history the Doctor was hurled.

Around the universe in his little box,

No one knows where or when it will drop.

Nine hundred and eight years of time and space,

Making sure each thing is in its place.

Everybody knows that everybody dies,

And nobody knows it like him.

But he will protect his allies,

he’ll never stop tryin’.

Because with him,

Everybody lives.
