31 Days to Become a Better Writer – Day 11

Day 11

Today’s challenge:

Read these eyewitness accounts of President Lincoln’s Gettysburg address and then craft a post about them.  The sky’s the limit.  Be creative, be you.

“Come on, Elmira!”

My sister and I had slipped away from our group of peers, setting out for the home of Judge Davis Willis. President Lincoln was going to be there. It was absolutely exciting. When we finally arrived at Judge Willis’ house, we saw many people, all waiting to shake President Lincoln’s hand. When finally the moment came, President Lincoln stooped down to shake my hand because he was so tall. My hand seemed very tiny in his. He smiled at me and I smiled right back.

After a while, Elmira and I headed to the cemetery. There we found a wooden platform erected, and we took our seats. Elmira and I listened to all of the address, but to me it seemed so short. I would never forget that day.
