31 Days to Become a Better Writer – Day 20

Day 20

Today’s challenge:

Today’s challenge is two-fold.  First of all, I’d like you to pick a book to read this week.  You don’t have to finish it by the end of the week.  Heck, I don’t even care if you ever finish it.  You aren’t reading to finish it, you are reading to refresh your brain and excite your perspective.  This week, I want you to commit to read for ten minutes a day.  It can be out of the same book, it can be articles in different magazines, whatever you want.  Just read.

For the second part of the challenge, I’d like you to write about one of your favorite books.  Why was it your favorite?  Which character stole your heart?  Perhaps the character made you cringe or caused you to ponder their actions.

I have two book series that are my favorite book series of all time. They are The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. I could never choose a favorite from each series, but I suppose if I had to choose, my favorite from Narnia would be The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. My favorite from Harry Potter would have to be The Order of the Phoenix.

I’m not really sure why LWW is my favorite Narnia book. Maybe it’s because it’s the first one I read. Every time I read it, it gives me chills. I just love it so much and I have no idea why. The character I love most from Narnia is Lucy. I just relate to her really well, mostly because when I started reading the books, I was close to the age that she was. I just feel a connection with her.

My favorite Harry Potter book is OotP because one, it was the first book that really messed with my emotions, and two, it’s because it has Luna Lovegood in it. Luna Lovegood, in my opinion, is one of the greatest female fictional characters that ever was. In others eyes, she’s really strange and crazy. They call her ‘Loony Lovegood’. But what I love about her is that she doesn’t care what the others think. She keeps believing in all her imaginary creatures, such as Wrackspurts and Nargles, and doesn’t care when others taunt her for it.
